I nurtured this garlic all Spring and Summer, but it's funny: the most satisfying thing was braiding them all together. Maybe it was how pretty they look, or how much I love to eat garlic... or maybe how dusting off my french-braiding skills took me waaaay back to junior high. Woah.

ReplyDeleteWe haven't grown garlic...are you supposed to dry it before using it? And is green garlic something else or is it just the young, fresh stuff? I'm so confused.
Hi Jora! Garlic is actually super easy, but takes a long time to grow... when it's young, you can eat it as green garlic (yum) or let it mature (the tops go brown and fall over), then you pull it up and let it "cure" (sit in the shade) for a few weeks. Then you braid it. I waited waaaay too long to braid mine, so they look a little crispy.

That is awesome! They look incredible. My garlic didn't make it but my shallots did. Will try again next year...
